Fairhaven Bible Chapel Statement of Doctrine
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God, and is our only source of authority for faith and practice. 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20,21
We believe that God created the world in 6 literal days approximately 6,000 years ago. Sin came into the world through the first man, Adam, and we his descendants are sinners that need a saviour. Genesis 1; John 1:3; Romans 5:12
We believe in one God, revealed in Scripture as a Trinity of Persons in essential unity, existing eternally as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in glory equal, in majesty co-eternal. Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14
We believe that Jesus Christ was God manifest in Flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin, thus being very God and very Man. Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 1:35
We believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, and that He died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 15:3-4
We believe that there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. We believe Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. 1 Tim. 2:5; John 14:6
We believe that we are saved by faith alone, but true faith will produce good works. We believe we can know that we are saved. Eph. 2:8-10; 1 John 5:13
We believe in believer’s baptism by immersion as presented in scripture. Baptism does not save, but is an outward sign of our new life in Christ. Acts 8:36-38; Mat. 28:18-20
We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a remembrance for believers of Christ’s work on the cross. 1 Cor. 11:17-34
We believe that Jesus Christ will rapture believers, and He will come again to judge both the living and dead. We believe in eternal punishment in hell for unbelievers and that those who are saved through Jesus’ blood will live eternally in heaven. (1 Thess. 4:14-17; Matt. 25:31-46; Revelation 20:15; Revelation 21:1-4)
